Nathan Hale Updates:

Nathan Hale Family Literacy Night Recap

Family Literacy Night 2025 was such an enjoyable event! With over 80 families in attendance, the celebration of Mr. Popper's Penguins was enjoyed with dioramas with different settings from the book, free books, literacy kits, cookies, scavenger hunts, literacy games, a photo booth, the Scholastic Book Fair, and to top it all of we had a visit from Captain Cook! Thank you to the Nathan Hale staff helpers, Heritage JNHS members, Literacy Committee, Mr. Kent, Ms. Cuevas, PTA, and our custodian crew for all your hard work.  We also had students win some great prizes from the raffles that took place during the event.

Sign Language Club Update

In sign club, we’ve been having fun learning how to sign songs:  Gobble, Gobble!, White Christmas, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad. We had a few brave students willing to come up on stage to sign!

We also watched an American Sign Language version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and a duo signing “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch.” These were great samples of ASL in action and would be fun to watch with your family over break if you are interested.

Not all sign language resources online are good or accurate, especially on YouTube and Tik Tok. Please do not search for sign language resources on these or any platforms. Always get resources from a person fluent in sign language. Here are some reputable online sources with a lot of great content:

Have fun learning to sign at home!

Heritage Updates:

Bubble Day

In 8th-grade science class, students applied their knowledge on matter (solids, liquids, gases, evaporation, etc.) to make amazing bubbles. They even made a bubble inside a bubble inside a bubble inside another bubble. They even learned how to pick up bubbles. Cool Stuff! Science Rules!!

Amamihe House Day

The House of Amamihe had an amazing time during our recent RTI House Meeting! We shared key updates, played engaging games, and ended the meeting with a small treat for everyone. The energy was high, the teamwork was strong, and the Amamihe spirit was on full display.

We’re already planning our next House Day—and even more exciting—getting ready for the upcoming Amamihe Sneaker Ball! Stay tuned for details as we prepare for more fun, connection, and celebration.
