District News and Updates

We Need Your Input for Three-Year Strategic Action Plan

The district has begun the process of developing its 3-year Strategic Action Plan. A strategic action plan is what drives the mission, goals, and vision of the district. Specifically, a strategic action plan is defined as a detailed, actionable document that translates an organization's high-level, long-term strategic goals into concrete, day-to-day tasks, timelines, and assigned responsibilities. It acts as a road map to bridge the gap between "where you are" and "where you want to be", ensuring effective resource allocation and measurable progress.

The window for the community input is March 16 - 27. Our community’s input is important to us. Everyone has opinions, and all opinions are valued and needed to make us go from good to great. Please click here to take this quick survey, as your opinion is important to us. Thank you.

Heritage is Getting a Track

We are pleased to announce that on March 16, 2026, the Sunnybrook Board of Education officially approved the construction of a track at Heritage Middle School.

This project will feature a six-lane track with a soccer infield and a long jump pit. We anticipate breaking ground this April and look forward to the enhanced opportunities this will provide for our students, athletes, and community.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Board of Education. We will continue to provide the community with progress updates as construction begins.

Kindergarteners as Artists

Ms. Lee's class used their fingers, paint brushes, and toothpicks to show off their artistic abilities in class. They brainstormed and created a Spring Mural that will be displayed. Students are also working on decorating their dramatic play stand that is connected to our character trait of the month, Cooperation. This activity was tied to their efforts to work together and have open discussions about what kind of weather events they see in the spring. We had a ball and plan to continue learning through play!

Leprechauns, Worms and Rainbows in Pre-K...Oh My!

Our Pre-K Littles have been so busy these past few weeks. We have been on a wonderful learning journey surrounded by leprechauns, worms, and rainbows. The kids have been in the spirit and on the hunt for the pesky Leprechaun and gold, setting traps and creating awesome artwork in fun new ways. We used our feet to make a rainbow, and brought in worms from the outside for the kiddos to explore on one of those extra rainy days. We didn't get to trap our little green friend but we had such a fun time getting creative with STEAM and using our brains to come up with ideas. This has been so much fun for everyone involved...we look forward to more weeks like this in Pre-K!

IMSA Update

IMSA met for the last time on Wednesday, March 12, 2026, and celebrated with a Pizza Party and games! During the last several months, IMSA met weekly and explored different activities in Building and Engineering! The students had a blast exploring energy while creating marble roller coasters and ski jumps, tested stains using mustard and various materials, and designed catapults to see who could launch items the farthest distance! The students (and the teachers) had a BLAST!

Library Clerks

This year, 64 fourth graders expressed interest in participating in the final stages of the newly renovated Library as a Library Clerk. Eight of those students were called to the task this past Wednesday; they worked with Mrs. Brady by removing books from the previous library collection as well as returning other books back to the shelves.
